When we first met Lindsay from Toast Events at this private estate in Macon, GA last summer, we stepped out of the truck onto a muddy construction project. The foundation was poured but the only way to envision the final product was through blueprints and a landscape plan. The “tent site” was a lumpy incline behind stacks of woods and concrete trucks, not a normal location for one of our beautiful sailcloth tents to be installed. But Lindsay and the client had a plan. They wanted to design the entire backyard of the house around our tent and they needed detailed specs, diagrams, and information to get the job done. So with a 12-month timeline before their daughter’s wedding, we set out to design a 10k+ sq ft tent site that would hold 400 guests and a massive entertainment installed only a few feet behind one of the largest private homes in the state. Fast forward to Oct 2016 and the final details came together in a week long production. 400 dump trucks of compacted soil had created the base for a masterpiece in the backyard. Tuesday before the wedding, while roofers finished the last details and landscapers spread the last bit of mulch, a 59’x179′ Sailcloth tent made its way into the air. And over the next few days 1,300 sq ft of dance floor, 400 sq ft of staging, and over 600 chairs made their way to the home down the dusty construction drive of the 1300 acre estate. Jackson Durham arrived on Friday and began the soft-seating and decor installation and by Saturday when the caterer, Epting Events, arrived on site, all was GO for the big day.
